“Focusing on positive youth development, post-secondary education, and fellowship opportunities for the success and advancement of Hispanic/Latino youth in the Inland Northwest.”
Nuestras Raíces Centro Comuntario (NRCC) is hosting its 18th Annual Viva Vino Gala at Riverside Place on Saturday, February 17, at 6 p.m. to help continue raising scholarship funds and resources for Hispanic/Latino youth in the Inland Northwest.
We invite you to be part of our gala and enjoy an evening of wine tasting, dinner, live music, performances, dancing, and a silent and live auction while benefiting a good cause, our youth program, –Latinos Unidos eN Acción Alianza (LUNAA).
LUNAA, our NRCC student-community engagement program, introduces Latino/a/e Hispanic students to Spokane by connecting them with resources, services, scholarships, and graduation recognition to enhance their academic, cultural and emotional well-being. LUNA's counterpart, Alianza, is our LGBTQ+ program, where we provide a safe space, peer support, and other resources for the LGBTQ+Latine community.
The evening will open with a cocktail hour, Mariachi Las Aguilas and a silent auction from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Dinner, catered by Mole, a traditional Oaxacan cuisine restaurant in Spokane, will be served at 7:30 p.m. Attendees will enjoy from live entertainment by Quiero Flamenco and Ballet Folklorico de Spokane, followed by a message from our executive director and then a live auction to keep raising funds.
The night will close with a Latino DJ, and guests are welcome to stay after the live auction to dance the night away! This year, your contribution will help our organization continue empowering our Spokane Latino/a/e and Hispanic youth.
You can be part of this great cause by purchasing a ticket, sponsoring a table, or considering donating an item for our silent or live auction.
For 27 years, Nuestras Raíces, formerly the Hispanic Business/Professional Association (HBPA), has been awarding academic and cultural scholarships to youth pursuing post-secondary education and fellowship opportunities in the Inland Northwest.
Our 17th Viva Vino event in 2023, awarded our organization $24,000 in academic scholarships, $3,500 in cultural youth scholarships, and over 1,000 hours in youth peer counseling.
Our center also hired four summer paid fellowships and engaged 275 new students to participate in cultural events and community and civic engagement.
